So the weekend is here and each of us has been busy in one way or another Michael making a new build of Operation: Circumvolution (we're nearly there!) and Adrian is working on a new idea as well as growing a beard. (someone's got to do the dirty work!) In my case, I'm trying to learn how to write custom shaders which has been interesting to say the least! Hopefully if I can get a decent-ish grasp on it, I can then make new shaders for our games to give them a more look more tailored to our tastes which would be incredibly useful. Hope you like Jamming too...It's only 2 weeks away but starting to look forward to the Game Jam. Granted, we've 2 weeks of hard work on Both Operation: Circumvolution and The Adventures of Rollo to get them to the demo stage but the Game Jam is a good chance to mingle and meet more developers which'll be nice and also possibly catch up with some college mates. It should be a good experience either way. Now for the aforementioned GIFs and Pics...In typical fashion, a Skype call today descended into GIF and picture madness. Here are some of the highlights... There were a hell of a lot more but it'll take up too much time to find them again. Uncontrollable laughter was had.
That'll do me for this blog post, keep an eye on the company blog for more on both Operation: Circumvolution's and The Adventures of Rollo's progress, as well as some random musings. Update: Seems GIFs don't work too well on weebly which now makes the name of this post a little redundant Dan I write this blog of my own free will... [noise of gun being loaded in the background] ... I'll try keep this as interesting as I possibly can (apologies if I fall at the first hurdle on that one). As is written in the sidebar, any questions or anything of the sort, just comment in the...erm...comments section. First things First...It's been a busy few days with our site, Facebook and Twitter accounts launching and then, of course, getting back to making games after a break for Christmas. That's part of the reason for my delay in getting this blog lark started up and partly because I've been putting off doing one (hence the title). With that, I'd like to say "Thank You" to everyone who has shown us support in any way, shape or form whether that be through following us on twitter, liking us on Facebook or even just visiting this site. It means a lot to all three of us and hopefully we can give you good interesting games in return. Onto the Nitty Gritty...We've started back on Operation: Circumvolution now after our 2 week or so break and things are progressing nicely. Each of us have designed a level and we're now putting them together for the demo. Beyond some new aesthetic features (flickering lights and what not), we've added some handy features... Yesterday, me and Adrian, got to work on a new zoom out mechanic which allows the player to zoom out the gameplay camera in order to both plan their route more carefully and also time their jumps more carefully. Which also brings me onto the new look down mechanic. In similar fashion to the zoom out one, this is to allow a more considered approach to the game rather than just jump down and hope for the best. Some more stuff coming soon on the Operation: Circumvolution front and also The Adventures of Rollo as well. Hopefully we'll have the demos up and running for both games by the end of the month. Random Musings...So yesterday during one of our minor distractions from work, we stumbled upon this case on the right. I won't lie...I drooled. Unfortunately though, it only seems to be part of a steam box rather than being for sale as a stand alone which is a bit of a shame. I also see that The Division might be delayed until 2015 which, again, would be a pity. That was one of the games I was most looking forward to seeing on next-gen but looks like we'll have to wait a while longer. So that'll do me for this blog post. Hope you enjoyed reading it. Be sure to post any comments, questions or other such shenanigans in the comments section Dan |
Dan's Dastardly DictionSo, I'll try keep this somewhat updated. If anyone reads this and has a question or whatever, just comment Archives
