It's been a busy week for me so far with plenty of bug fixing and what not to do... So, since Sunday Musings I've been working on fixing a number of bugs in the AI script for the darts app. It's been very much a cascade sort of affair with one bug leading to another and so forth and numerous false dawns where I thought everything had been fixed. It's been fun... One of the biggest problems I've faced was the CPU player losing track of what it was supposed to be doing. Obviously, a fairly large problem. The cause of this was the different scenarios I had the CPU looking for. Presumably 2 or more of them were conflicting leading to problems for the CPU. Eventually this lead me to have to remove a fairly sizeable chunk of script (more than half) and then start afresh. Thankfully that seems to have done the trick on that bug but it'll need more testing before I'm 100% sure. The other bug was related to the above bug, the CPU player would throw too high a dart score towards the end of a leg which meant the score would dip below 0 and which caused an index out of range error, despite me telling it to do otherwise. Probably ignoring that line of code for the same reasons as above. I've now managed to fix that but, as above, it needs to be tested a hell of a lot before I can say for sure. The app now has a clock at the top that shows the date and time. Took me quite some time to realise that "HH" means 24 hour clock and "hh" means 12 hour clock. Huge facepalm on that one. That's me so far this week. Hopefully I can get more things in/fixed (if needs be) before the end of the week. Skyrim...Needs More GiantsMuch like the situation with Binding of Isaac, I've finally played Super Meatboy. Really good game. Again, like Binding of Isaac, I'm really bad at it. Atrocious is too small a word for how absolutely useless I am at it. But I like that challenge, I suppose :( Oh and Skyrim is trying to pull me back into it's clutches. Been looking at the Beyond Skyrim mod for the past few days. Really looks good. And, of course, I've been mod browsing and then going to download them but lets face it, unless I start again, I'm never going to be able to play the damn thing. As Adrian will attest to, I load up the game, start a fight with a Giant and the run away. Once he's dead, I pretty much quit. Rinse and repeat. I think I've got height envy... I'll be back with Sunday Musings at the end of the week, hopefully more news on the progress of the app. Until then, have a good week!
Welcome to my midweek blog. It's been a good week thus far, both development and outside development, aside from my search for a decent Emulator for APKs hence the title... Darts and EmulatorsThe darts app that we've been working on is progressing nicely at the moment. The main menu is now fully implemented, although there are some slight issues to work out but they should be fixed quite easily over the next week. At the moment I'm working on the main game mode, 501. There's a few changes in how the mode works, depending on which options are selected in the mode menu. These include the number of legs, whether it's PvP or PvCPU and whether it's a Doubles In/Out game. This week I've been mainly working on the Player vs CPU mode. Getting the basic AI working first is the main priority before moving on to the difficulties and what not. It's slowly getting there. I've also been looking for something to emulate a phone on windows which is proving most difficult at the moment. All of the ones I've tried have been buggy or just not very good. The official android one doesn't allow you to test APK's simply, as far as I can tell so, unfortunately, I'll just have to keep building out to my phone for testing, rather than using an emulator. Not really a big deal but it would save a lot of hassle. Think I've hit Every Wall...Got some new mods for Assetto Corsa this week which have been awesome. They're old F1 tracks from the 1988 season, namely Adelaide, Imola, Jerez, Monza, Montreal and Estoril. I've been trying to do some laps in the Lotus 98t which is damn difficult with a controller (probably because I'm rubbish at it ) but it's fun nonetheless. I've also been playing some Deponia which is an awesome point & click. I lost my old save when I switched to the new PC, so I got to start again which was nice. Really enjoying playing through that so far. Hopefully I'll actually stick with it and not be distracted by something shiny, which is what usually happens. I'll be back with Sunday Musings on Sunday and will hopefully have more news on the app's development including some of Adrian's work.
Until then, enjoy the rest of the week! |
