Hello and welcome to yet another Sunday musings. It is our first week back after the holidays and we have been busy. Monday was a great day with a meeting to discuss the week's work and the work for the future. We decided dan would go back to working on code on the main game and I would finish up more for the weapon's pack. Dan implemented the full save game feature now. This save game feature will not only save the game it will encode it and take a screenshot that shows up in the main menu's loading screen. This was a mammoth task for us this time last year but Dan can now do this within 2 days and still have time to do more work. The load menu is now only selectable when there is a save game file present on your system. Doing this was a proud moment as we now create BurnBrightGames folders on your hard drives to save games and screenshots. Just a note that the menu's have 0% design on them so far but we will get around to laying out a proper menu in the near future. Right now the screenshot is just using placeholder buttons. Dan also has fully integrated controller support on the menu's. The menu's are now as smooth as buttah! With all this you think Dan would be spent .... but no he has also done some level changes and fixes. things that make the gameplay feel that much more better even at these early stages. I watched Dan run through the levels we already have ingame and we are hitting a great play time with each level rounding off as pretty much the same with the exceptions of one or 2 bigger area's and bosses.
Sadly due to unforeseen circumstances on Friday I had to do a full day of paper work, which has a knockback on the release date for the fantasy weapon pack a bit. Hopefully all is sorted now and things will run smoothly. -_- The fun of running a company. I have had a few minutes every few nights to also do a few sketches of upcoming characters to model. They are the mother and father of Evelyn. More sketches to come in the following days! I am no good at titles but music I know !Music time and Dan will go first with his song off the week with LAST NIGHT THE SKY by Lamb My choice this week is Hozier with WORK SONG Bit of a chilled out music week this time from both of us. Hopefully with these tues we will chill out for the day and not worry about paperwork. First week down 48 weeks to go!Until our next christmas holidays so we are going to work hard to squeeze all this work in now until then. Next week is dans week as the rotation goes!
Have a great week guys! Thanks for reading <3 Hope you all had a good New Years! First Sunday Musings of 2015. Here's hoping it's a good year ahead! I Could Stuff this Paragraph Full of Turkey Jokes...Next week, it'll be a return to a more normal workload for us. For the past 2 weeks, we've been doing alternate projects, prototypes and some individual work. Adrian's been working on a few things over the past 2 weeks. He continued some work on the swords that we showed as part of Screenshot Saturday a few weeks ago. We're now up to 10 swords, I believe and now the just need some texturing and they're done. They're awesome concepts and they'll look even better with some textures. He also entered a Unity showcase competition, which he mentioned in the last Sunday Musings. Basically, the challenge was to create a Christmas ornament that could hang on a Christmas tree in under 5,000 vertices. Adrian's ended being under 3,000. Hat doffed in his direction for that. The finished model was our Screenshot Saturday this week: Winners are being announced tomorrow with first prize being a Unity Pro Licence. Wish him Luck! I've been doing several small things for the past week or so and switching between them constantly. I've been working on a game design document for a new game that we've had prototyped for a while. Some basic progress has been made on the document and hopefully, I'll be able to do more work on it in my spare time over the next couple of weeks. I've also been working on some other small prototypes for future projects, just to see how they would work. Always a fun process. More on them in the future, hopefully! Steam Sale: AftermathIn the last Sunday Musings, Adrian mentioned the fact there was a Steam Sale. Lots of games were purchased. Too many good deals to refuse! Managed to get some of the games on my wishlist like Divinity: Original Sin, This War of Mine, Sherlock Holmes, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Wreckfest as well as a load of others. Adrian bought Shovel Knight, Prison Architect, Transistor, Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 4, as well as a few others. We did, of course, buy some games we can play during our Game Nights like Metal Slug 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and UnEpic. Clearly, it's Mr Clean's BabyTime for our music selections of the week. Adrian's gone for Wax Fang's "Majestic". Not sure if that's the CD's cover or if it's just the video background but...erm...yeah. It's weird. Good song though I've gone for John Mayer's "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room". Dan's: John Mayer - Slow Dancing in a Burning RoomAdrian's: Wax Fang - MajesticThat's our lot for this weeks Musings. Adrian will be back with Sunday Musings and one of his own blogs during the week, if we remember this week.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! |
