It's looking a bit gloomy here at the moment. As Adrian would say it's spilling down. He's insane, you see...
It's all 'Appening here
We've been continuing to work on the Darts App this week with things progressing nicely. Adrian created a map of the world for the career mode that will be in the game. That mode will contain 20 rounds which take place throughout the world.
He also got to work on the tournament ladder which will be used in both Career mode and Tournament mode. And, finally, Adrian also modelled, unwrapped and textured the stage for the career mode and it looks awesome. It was this week's Screenshot Saturday.
This week, I spent a good bit of time testing the AI for the game and making sure everything is working as it should be. I've almost got the main mode, X01, completed with just Doubles In/Out to go in over the next week.
I also did some work on the settings menu which also meant some early work on the apps Save Game Manager, which will eventually be used to save stats and settings. The settings menu is now done, with the settings saving as they should and what not, so I should be able to move on to other parts of the Save Game Manager over the next few weeks and get the manager completed fully. I've returned...
To Skyrim. I've finally restarted Skyrim after spending half the day modding it. Forgot how damn nice the game looks with mods. It's awesome. Hopefully I'll actually complete the main quest line this time rather than stopping after only 40 hours or so (and then only periodically going to kill Giants for some reason).
Also watched some Ori and the Blind Forest over the past week. That game looks absolutely amazing in terms of graphics and mechanics. Absolutely amazing and it's now on my Steam Wishlist... Music!
Time for the music of the week.
Adrian's gone for Junior Senior's "Move Your Feet". One of those songs that I had no idea who sang it or what it was called. I do now :D I've gone for Dave Hause's "We Could be Kings" which is an awesome song. Adrian's: Junior Senior - Move Your FeetDan's: Dave Hause - We Could Be Kings
So that's it for Sunday Musings this week. Adrian will be at the helm next week, so swing by and check that out.
Until then enjoy the rest of the weekend. The good weather is here this weekend in Ireland and we are still working on the darts app. Things are going great with the app this week a few bumps but that's to be accepted while developing anything. Well it was shining... until that day all went dark. That's right this week was the host to the solar eclipse and we got up extra early to watch this rare event. The sky was clouded up to the actual eclipse but just at the right time I got the perfect view with a layer of clouds that made it safe to watch without burning my retina's off. Other people in Ireland sadly were not as lucky with just cloud wall covering all the action. The picture is hard to see but I did capture some nice moments of this eclipse. See you again in a few years I guess, I hope next time it comes around we have a few successful games under our belt. This week I worked on trophies that will be used with the corresponding difficulty level the user has chosen to compete at. I have concepted the trophies earlier on in the projects life. I had to keep as low poly as possible but still have enough shape and design that makes them look nice and recognizable. The trophies range from bronze to platinum and with how the app will play only really really good users will legitimately get that huge platinum trophy to show off. I modeled the trophies based of 4 basic models I have modeled the dart, the bass, the medal and the stars. By combining these meshes in different patters keeps the same aesthetic while giving a sillouhette that is instantly recognizable Time for me to tell you about Dan's adventures this week. Dan has been coding the basic X01 mode. This mode is the bread and butter of the app as the AI will be using a variation of this through-out the entire app. Our client asked for the difficulties to have a set bracket to finish a leg of darts in but not to throw the same match every round. Dan has done amazing on this so far and we have Ai with different levels of difficulty and we will be tweaking it to perfection during the projects developement cycle. Sunday TunageTune time and Dan will go first with Send me on my way by Rusted Root. And for the eclipse I chose this song ... it mentions something about eclipses aawwwww yeaah That's all for this week folks. Hope u have a good week as the sun is currently belting down out there and I for one am gonna grab me sum tan-age!
Have fun guys! |
