Hey guys and welcome to another Sunday Musings! This week has been strange as I (Adrian) have been bouncing around between projects. So I will let Dan start this weeks work he has done.
Dan has been working on client work that is seperate from Reprieve or any of our otehr projects... and that is pretty much all I can really say about Dans work this week. I have also been doing small tasks on this job but it was not alot and I am back on Repreive work. I have spent most of the week working on effects and shaders. If anyone was around for my mid week musings I posted this video.
This video shows the effect that I was working on during the week that comes out of the players hand while shooting a fire ball. A small effect that will add a bit of coolness rather then just a plain ol' fire ball appearing from a little girls hand. This effect was achieved using sprite animation on 2 planes that will spawn on her hands per attack.
This had to have its own code that cycles through the animation as unity does not allow for sprites to be used in a 3d scene. I then animated the scale and shape of the planes to give the forward looking effect you see in the final image. Yes i know its very pale and faded but as I said it is just a small effect that adds a bit of depth to the attacks. I have also been working in shaders. 2 shaders this week and one of them is not fully finished as its not the final effect that I was aiming for just yet. Next week I have the task of merging the 2 shaders together using vertex painting to give a blend between snow and Ice. Obviously the textures are not final on either shader but they will be soon. I spent a bit of time getting light to transmit through the snow to give it the snow look as light can pass though snow and carry its colour as well. These 2 shaders were the Screen shot Saturday for the week.
Ideally I will aim for the ice being more stylised with white edging but as I am still new-ish to shaders I will do my best lol.
Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah
Time for the tunes. As with the work I will let Dan lead with his choice BabyMetal with "Ijime,Dame,Zattai" that title though
My song is " Puss" by Jimin... I hope you like Jimin too.
Well that's all for this week.
Dan will awesomely be back this week with 3 mid week blogs to make up for the ones he missed. More likely just the one though. Apart from that... Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Have Fun !!!
Hello, welcome to what will, inevitably, be the least work orientated Sunday Musings in aeons
As Adrian mentioned in last week's Sunday Musings, I was in Poland for 6 days last week and got back on Tuesday night. We spent 3 days in Warsaw and 3 days in Krakow. Saw some of the sites, ate far more steak than would be considered acceptable, burned a menu, watched Ireland Qualify for the Euros and, in general, had an awesome time. Much needed break, although I missed coding. 10/10 would Poland again...
Unfortunately ended up getting no work done whatsoever this week, as my head was all over the shop. Not entirely sure why, especially as I was looking forward to getting back to do some work!
Adrian, unlike me, actually did work this week. He created a new shader for the enemies in Reprieve which makes the enemies look like they're dissolving after they've been killed, as shown above. Sort of similar to the Dragons in Skyrim, if you will.
He also did some further concept work on the Air Temple Guardian which he concepted early on in development but revisited it. It's looking nice, can't wait to see it in game! Work also continued on the Climb levels between the Fire Temple and Air Temple. They're just about finished, I believe, in terms of modelling. And finally, in my absence, Adrian also prototyped a new game idea which we'll probably work on at the weekends. Hopefully have it released before Christmas
And onto our songs of the week. Adrian's gone with Nightcore's "Run". Something those young 'uns would dance to down the local discotheque, I'd imagine
I've gone for "Still in Love with You" by Thin Lizzy. Adrian's: Nightcore - RunDan's: Thin Lizzy - Still in Love with You
That's my lot for this week. Adrian will be back with more next week.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! |
