We thought this week would be a good week to give our little Evelyn a little bit of a challenge in terms of enemies. Sure we got our levels with the flow we want and the longevety but I have always been keeping in mind the fact the these levels will be populated with our enemies and this was the week they were born!
Starting with Monday I concepted out the demons that will be used as the 3 basics. We will have more variants as the game progresses but getting the style set with the base 3 would lead the way for the up and coming enemies style and gameplay mechanics.
With the concepts done I then went into blender using the concepts to guide the poly flow as I boxed modeled over the Concepts. While this was going on Dan and I started writing up exactly what animations they Demons would require. As the enemies were pretty well described in terms of physicality we knew exactly what animations were required, so doing the list was like a ten minute job XD.
After a quick unwrap and texture they are ready for the game. and the grabber is all animated. Dan got to work on the coding for the grabber and the other demons. The grabber demon is like 90% working in game and things are coming together perfect. Dan was also busy this week implementing more of Evelyn's animations. She now is playing smooth and the animations are triggering perfectly making her look alot more finished. Of course Dan will be busy again next week implementing more of her animations I have yet to do but hey.... he loves it.
I also worked on some effects for the animations on Evelyn and will show them next week in game when they are triggered with the animations. But trust me they will look swish.
Budum-Tishhhhh
Always leave on a strong note they say....... get it ......note.... music......
any way I will let Dan go first with his choice of Sonic Syndicate with My Escape
I am going with a Final Fantasy song called Suteki da ne
Until next time
Have fun!
Welcome to Sunday Musings. It's been a busy week for us this week...
So Many Dots...
This week Adrian's been hard at work on Evelyn's animations (when he's not been stealing kills in LoL), finishing them off to be put in Reprieve. So far Evelyn has about 30 animations for different attacks, falls and what not which isn't even the full set.
Here's the all the keyframes from some of the animations:
He also got a vertex painter, so we can texture directly in Unity which he'll tell you about in his blog next week
This week's Screenshot Saturday was the slide animation and slide particle.
Only about 6 or 7 of the animations have been implemented so far, I can already see that the Animator window is going to get awful messy over the next few days with transitions all over the place. Hopefully I can the whole list working fairly sharpish
I've been working on the Demon Boss battle, making sure that he spawns between the different positions without losing the timing between himself and the portal. After much tweaking, I managed to get it consistently doing what it's supposed to. I also began work on the smoke demons. So far, I've got the Sprinter type working. He basically sprints at Evelyn and runs through her causing some slight health loss. The idea is to dodge him and hit him with Attacks. He's more of an annoyance than anything. He might need some alterations, as at the moment he does a slide on one side of the level which we might change. On the other side of the level he does a flip off a wall and begins running again. I've to also add in a sort of vision cone as well. I also began working on reducing the amount of needless tags that we're currently using. On last check we had about 50 or so which is slightly annoying to use. Some of those tags are far too specific like "BlueEXP" or completely vague, like "Change" which I've still no idea why I called it that. But I'll be working on reducing that over the next few days Music of the Week
This week Adrian's gone with Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk", Adrian being the Funkiest member of Burn Bright Games, of course.
I've gone for Sinéad White's "Better" which really is an awesome song Dan's: Sinéad White - BetterAdrian's: Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk
That's it for the musings this week. Adrian's on Blogging duties next week, so be sure to check back on the usual days.
Until then, enjoy the rest of the weekend |
