My brain is all out of whack this morning thanks to Daylight Savings Time. Second day in a row, nearly forgot Screenshot Saturday yesterday and now blegh! But one thing I do know, it's Sunday, I tells ya! So, with the day of the week now established, let us get down to some Musing. I will muse like no-one has mused before! Holy Lizards, Batman! This week has been busy, more for Adrian than me. But at least it's been busy for one of us! Adrian modeled out the chests for item pickups. These chests will contain potions (Health, Mana and Stamina), EXP and, if playing Retro mode, lives. It was our Screenshot Saturday this week (click to enlarge and all the jazz): He modeled out the first boss last week and this week retopologised the model bringing down the poly count. The boss is looking awesome so far. Adrian also did bubble particles for the lava. Bubble sounds weird in that context but let's roll with it. They really add something to the lava scenes that they're in. It just looks better with them, even though they're subtle. He also unwrapped the fire temple level which was last week's Screenshot Saturday. So hopefully that'll be textured in the next few weeks, depending on what he's got on his proverbial plate. Like I said, lots of work done by Adrian this week. I, on the other hand, had a slightly easy week. My work load was essentially done early Friday Morning (although if you count this, it's only being finished now ヽ(´ー`)人(´∇`)人(`Д´)ノ ). So, this week I finally finished off the shop/attribute menu. This has been an ongoing Trello Card since the END OF APRIL! My, how time flies when you're having fun. The reason for it taking so long was the skill tree. There was a temporary menu in place during that time, minus a skill tree, which has now been replaced by a newer temporary one (it's needs some customisation to make it nice and pretty) but it's working. You can buy potions and now actually use the skill tree. Thank God for Unity 4.6 I also coded in some lava folds for Lavafalls. I embarrassed to say it took me far longer than is acceptable to get that one working... then I got the game working with a keyboard. Button configuration needs some changes though. Finally, I did some preliminary work on a new game concept. One we've mentioned on here before but it's a long way from being anything work going into detail about for the moment. Bridge over the River Argh!So I was playing the Bridge this week, damn good game but I'm useless at it. I got to the 4th section and just went cross-eyed with confusion, then slowly backed out of the room and the game and haven't returned since. Such a hard game for my feeble brain... We have been playing Team Fortress as usual. It's been a strange week this week. Between getting abused by a 12 year old. The joys of online gaming. He was miffed because the rest of the team were crap in his opinion. It was HILARIOUS. Got called a "noobman". He got kicked after a few minutes, which was a tad disappointing. MoooooooosicThis week I've gone for Lagwagon's Virus. The song and, the entire album for that matter, is about Derrick Plourde, their former drummer. The feels be strong on this album. Their new album is out in 2 days. First one is 9 years. Can't wait! Adrian's gone with Alt J's Breeze Blocks who's video appears to be a murder in reverse or a redrum, if you will. Dan's: Lagwagon - VirusAdrian's: Alt J - Breeze Blocks[/Muse]So that'll be that. Adrian's got the metaphorical reins for next weeks blogs, including Sunday Musings so tune in (or whatever the website version of "tune in" is). And, of course, Screenshot Saturday on Saturday.
Enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend (if you're in Ireland), otherwise enjoy the rest of your weekend!

It is time to spin another yarn and tell the tales of the 2 adventurers in the world of game development. Sit with me if you will and listen, hear the wonders of the past and let your mind explore the possibilities of the future. So here we are another week down and more progress made on our games! Games!?! I hear you cry, yes we have made alot of progress on 2 titles in developement this week and now have a title 90% ready for release and keep you peepers open for an announcement soon on this one. Before I continue more progress other then games have been made. Spotify for instance has been implemented into the site so you can chill on our site and listen to our playlist as you read ==============================================>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Give it a try. Dan was busy this week being the person who was mostly spread across 2 games this week. Dan added new menu's and sliders into Star Jump and has now got it ready to ship once the last batch of bug testing is done. To get it this far was no easy feat and I take my hat off to him for it. As to get it this far he also had to do more object pooling so it runs smoother on lower powered devices and we all know how boring object pooling is. Dan has also been adding a new feature to Reprieve that has been requested by play testers. Ledge grabbing. Yup we have the capability of grabbing ledges now and the player can hang from them and jump back up to platform. This is another new move for players to explore the world we are creating. We love listening to feed back and developing the game that gamers want to sit down after a hard day and play. I have started modelling out the entire fire temple this week in blender. Taking if from a few cubes to a world is no easy feat but I am loving every minute of it. From all my work on the environments this week I created an untextured screenshot for screenshot Saturday The world itself is now feeling more and more complete and everything is starting to come together. Not only this but I have started modelling the boss for this temple. It most likely will be next weeks screen shot Saturday so to be cheeky this week i will repost the concept art so you know what he looks like again. But this leads up into next week where alot more work is to be done and more whiteboxing and testing to come. I am looking forward to every minute as watching a world of our imagination coming to life is an amazing process. But this play list is too short! Too short you say well why not let me and Dan add to this list of musical musings. My tunage for this week is Rude from Magic! A good chilled out song that is catchy as hell Dan has gone with Lagwagon's Lullaby. But how this would put a baby to sleep is beyond me. Speaking of Dan he will be adding these songs to that playlist so give it a follow it will be forever growing. Time to call it curtain's That is right I am calling it curtain's, taking leave of said blog writing set-up and moving on with my life. Bigger better doors to be opened in my future. well for another week any way XD as it is Dan's turn next week to give his opinion of things.
Have a great week people thanks for reading for any one who got this far. |
