Welcome to Sunday Musings! Progressing on Two FrontsThis week, Adrian concepted out the forest levels for Reprieve with some changes for improved gameplay and also to enable players to learn the different mechanics in the game. He also began to model them out, level by level, creating unique meshes for each. So far he's up the third forest level, so things are progressing nicely. Hopefully by the time we're finished on the Darts app, we'll have plenty to import on Reprieve. I've been hard at work on the Darts App this week. We've a new game mode in the app, Finishing Touch. The premise of this mode is that the app picks a number between 40 and 170 and then gives hints on how to finish with 3 darts from there. So far, it's been one of the easiest modes to implement with few problems, which is a nice change. I also implemented credits into the game which, as I said in my blog, link to our site and also a link to the SoundCloud of our SFX guy and general Audio wizard, Tom Campbell. Our Screenshot Saturday this week was a screenshot of the World Map in the career mode which you pick which country to play in, collecting trophies and EXP along the way. The mode consists of the main mode 501. Music!Onto the music for this week. Adrian's gone for Toto's "Hold the Line". Another one of those classic songs that I knew but never knew the name of...Awesome Song. I've gone for "Changes" by Tupac Shakur. Really good song. Adrian's: Toto - Hold the LineDan's: 2Pac - ChangesThat's us for this week. Adrian will be doing the blogs next week, as usual.
Have a good weekend! Happy Easter! Hope you all are in chocolate induced coma's at this stage. It has been another busy/productive week here at BBG. We are still working on the Darts app, the end is in sight as we have crossed the mid way point in development. I was in charge of creating the world map and creating regions for buttons. So when a player wants to play a champion on the career mode he/she can click on a corresponding countries. The player will be playing in a list of 20 countries all around the world. These will have varying leg lengths and challenge. The player can complete the career on 4 difficulties unlocking a corresponding trophy as he/she does. I also got in touch with our resident sound designer Tom Campbell to create us some very cool 180 audio clips for when the player hits that treasured highest of scores in darts. Tom created a selection of 4 audio clips that will be played at random to give a more varied experience for the player. Dan was the most busy out of the 2 of us this week as the app is now in mostly coding mode. For a start of the week Dan has created a Settings menu where the player can type in his/her name and a name for Player 2 to show up in classic x01 mode. The player can also control the back light duration here and what type of date system to use. Also the Challenge time that lets players decide when to get the daily challenge unlocking. Dan also implemented a double in/ double out mode to be used in x01. This means the player must hit a double to start and finish the round of darts. This makes things more challenging. We also have player vs player now implemented in x01 as well so things are coming together quite nicely. This gives mates a chance to player a game of x01 together and keep track of the scores and rules on the mobile device. Tippy tappy tunes!Music time and this week I will let Dan go first with his choice Arcade Fire with Intervention. Im going to Blur it up with Tender That's it for this musings. We have tomorrow off so we will be in full chillax mode :D Have a great long weekend people.
