Hello and welcome to another Sunday musings this week we have been busy with ..........
sorry about that just a bit tired. Where was I ..... o yeah we have been busy in Reprieve again this week. I have started using a timer method to work to try get more and more productivity out of every day. I use excel to time hour long chunks that I use and online timer to keep track off. On completion of an hour segment i fill in a square as long as the chart is filled thats my work done for the day.
I will continue to use this method in the future maybe even breaking it down some times into half an hour segments but that is the future and I am here in the present to talk about the past!
I have been working on concept art and modelling all week for Reprieve and things are going well as we now have a few new goals to aim for you might be seeing a more polished version of Reprive sooner then we even thought. I started with a few draw overs of the white boxed levels and did concept art off the first mini battle arena. This takes place right outside the temple upon defeating the boss the entrance become clear. This concept was our Screenshot for Saturday.
Next week I am modelling this cannot wait :D
I have also been thinking about the save points that we have in game. We started out with a dedicated Save room this would be a rest stop for players to gather composure and allow us to re-use the same scene. This is still going in the game but we came face to face with a problem of this method. We needed a room to enter to get these to work. So we came up with a design of a save point that we can place in open area's and allow more free form saving . Maybe even remove a few on harder difficulties.
Dan was flat out this week working on the save game manager. He has been converting it to a more flexible and cleaner way of working. To do this dan has created more classes for individual stats like player condition and player attributes.
This can also cover the inventory system that may be getting a few key items that can effect game play very soon. We have to look more at the balance of these items but more will come in the future. The Diddling's of the Week
Time for our music choices of the week.
This week I shall go first I was torn with many choices this week but finally arrived on a weird mash up that has since grown on me a lot. Neil Cicerega with Piss.
Dan's turn, he a gone with drowning pool and Tear Away
That's it for this week. I was gonna do some work on a few other things today but I am too sleepy so screw it :D
Have fun!
It's been a busy week for us this week with final preparations being made for the darts app with more things to be finished off today! Better get started
Fixes and Changes
This week, I made changes to various parts of the app and also did some bug fixes wherever we could find them
In career mode, we had a world map which you could select which country to play in, with countries unlocking as you won matches. We've now switched to a list mode, which unlocks as you play through. I've also fixed some bugs which were found in the app, including a fairly huge problem involving twitter. The twitter bug still has me bewildered beyond comprehension. Essentially, if you went to share on twitter and then rather than authorise the app, you pressed cancel, the app would slow down to between 0.8 and 2 frames per second. After multiple attempts to fix it, including using a new plugin which lets you see the unity debug in-game, I turned up nothing that would cause an issue. Then, as I was losing hope, I commented out about 8 lines of code which surprisingly stopped the slow down. So I spent some time re-coding that portion the sharing script and fixed the problem There were also some minor bugs like the Finishing Touch mode not re-appearing after two matches, which was caused by me fixing a different bug, but now they're both sorted and working properly. I also fixed a bug that was causing the AI to freeze. The code was missing a "=" in a very specific part of the code which meant that when the AI got down to 40, it didn't know how to proceed, as the code was telling it what to do for above and below 40 but not at 40. Silly mistake but fixed now Adrian's been hard at work on Reprieve and the Darts app this week. For career mode, Adrian added a new mesh to show what the name of the competition is. This is on either side of the stage and above the dartboard (otherwise you wouldn't actually see it for long enough) In Reprieve, he continued his work on the forest levels which are now nearly finished. The largest level in the forest section was our Screenshot Saturday this week:
So this section replaces the pipe section that we initially had in there. We've not playtested the new part but it should essentially play the same to a degree. We'll be having a look at it next week in great depth, hopefully.
We're looking forward to seeing it all in-game! Musics
Time for our songs of the week. Adrian has gone for a classic, "The Final Countdown" by Europe. I mean, who doesn't love The Final Countdown? Who doesn't love Europe? Exactly...
I've gone for Queen's "The Show Must Go On". I've gotten back into Queen lately, forgot how many damn good songs they have. Europe - Final CountdownQueen - The Show Must Go On
So that's me for this week. Adrian will be back next week with more blogs and hopefully some news on our Fantasy Weapon pack which we submitted to the Asset Store for approval. Fingers crossed
Anyway, Enjoy the rest of your weekend! |
