Sunday Musings time, we've been making some nice progress on Reprieve this week. Lots still to do though! This week I spent the vast majority of the week getting one of the mini-boss battles working. This one takes place between the Fire Temple and the Air Temple. It's been really fun to code. It did end up taking a bit longer than I thought which meant it was the only thing that got done on my end this week. It was specifically the spawning that ended up taking longer than I was anticipating. Initially I just set up that the enemies would just spawn in. The with problem with that was that more than one enemy was spawning in one spot and sometimes where the player was. I then overcomplicated that part of the spawning script which ended up not solving the issue. After much tinkering with the script, I just ended up getting tunnel vision and ended up making things even more complicated than necessary. In the end I just deleted what I had and made something that was far, far simpler. It works now and the boss battle is playable! I also got a small start on the next Guardian battle but not enough to have anything playable as of yet. Next week's work, I suppose. Adrian on the other hand got lots done this week. He unwrapped one of the Air temple enemies. Created the door with the eagle's head which is shown above. Looks really awesome when it's opening and closing He also did work on the walls for the Air Temple, so things are coming along nicely in the Air Temple in terms of meshes. He also did some work on one of the enemies from the Air Temple. It's full steam ahead for us now Onto the music, Adrian's gone for Ninja Sex Party's "Dinosaur Laser Fight". I'm not sure where to begin on that one I've gone for "Say it, Just Say it" by The Mowgli's Adrian's: Ninja Sex Party - Dinosaur Laser FightDan's: The Mowgli - Say It, Just Say ItThat's it for this week's Sunday Musings. Hope you have a nice weekend, what's left of it, and Adrian will be back with the blogs next week
We are back! First week back and boy o boy we have been working hard this week. We have been so busy with reprieve work since returning it feels great. New things and redesigns galore. So lets make haste and I shall tell you what I have been up to then I will get into the nitty gritty coding stuff of Dan's life! I have been doing meshes for the air temple. This will be an Aztec themed temple filled with chilling experiences. hehehehe its chilling cause it will be cold get it ?? I have been creating new things such as walls, decorations and enemies. The enemy actually made it as the ScreenShotSaturday this week. He will swim through the air with and electric feild covering his body making impossible to touch him and he will shoot electric towards the ground that will arc over the floor. Think of the pikachu attack in smash bro. This will make it very important to get rid of these early in large fights as .... I have also been designing new decoration's for this temple. Stuff like wall torches and wall decorations. Future stuff will be like tribal spikes and swinging axes. This temple will be dangerous to venture in so players better be nimble on them controls. As I said in my personal blog that I had to redesign the fire temple boss battle (this is where Dan comes in) so Dan had to go back and re-code things on him changing him from a moving boss to a more static tanky boss. This had a huge effect on gameplay and makes the boss battle play out alot better. Firstly he now has a more set of moves and we don't have to worry about things like what if he triggers certain things mid turn or why is he clipping through a wall as he turns. By making him static during the fight we can also increase his size back to the way he was designed as when he was moving we had to compromise his size to make it possible to jump over him. Now he is Large and in charge. Dan also tested out our ultimate attacks this is a new feature where players can unleash a much bigger version of the attack this comes with cool effects such as time distortion and draining the colour from the screen slightly as it happens. Strum the thing to make music noise!I stole Dan's song of the week so I will go first this time. I went with Bushes of love from bad lip reading its hilarious and catchy Dan had to go with something less awesome with John Sykes and Phil Lynott with Please don't leave me number 82 :D Dan told me to get rid of the 82 as it was when it was re released but I like to think they are singing about the number 82 that is thinking of leaving them. Well that is it for this week !
Hope you all had a happy new year and ready to make 2016 the best year ever! Until Next Time! Have fun!! |
