Hello, tis time for Sunday Musings. I'm writing this a whole day early while doing some bits of work. All the multi-tasking!
As I may have mentioned during the week, we've been hard at work on Star Jump this week with the hope of getting it finished and on the market. It's been busy, to say the least.
For me this week, it's been about re-building the game from the ground up which has been fun, sincerely, fun (apart from those bloody clouds. More on that in a bit) I've re-done the spawning of platforms which now works far batter than it used to. Before, there was issues which platforms spawning in too high which is obviously a bit of an issue. Speaking of platforms, we've 3 different types of platforms at the moment. The last type has a second sub-type but that's not in yet. We've got floating islands, clouds (Booo!) and alien-type platforms. Each have their own challenges I've also updated the saving since the last time we worked on the game. Before, we used playerprefs which is easily editable which we don't want. So we're now using a better system that we've used in other projects like Reprieve. The clouds...oh, the clouds. One of the things I have been working on this week was the cloud platforms. These move from side to side and are phantom platforms, so you can jump through them from the bottom. We've done this in Reprieve, so I thought it'd be fairly simple to implement in Star Jump but sweet Jesus was I wrong. I had to scrap the code controlling them twice or three times before I finally got it working properly. The mechanic still needs tweaking but it's working well so far Other than that, it's been mostly polish stuff like making the sky darken the higher you go and other such shenanigans
Meanwhile, the other half of the company has been bossing the art site of Star Jump.
Adrian's managed to get an effect for the super jump working. Kind of like Aurora Borealis around the edge of the phone. He's also been hard at work on the other particel effects in the game and, of course all the sprites that have to go in the game, like the mountains and platforms. Adrian also did some coding. Scary experience for us all....terrifying in fact. The man cares not for formatting, he's a monster.
Time for the music. Adrian's gone for "Whip It" by Devo. That video though...
I've gone for a song with a ridiculously long title "The Bright Bulb has Burned Out/Screws Fall Out" by Less Than Jake Adrian's: Devo - Whip ItDan's: Less Than Jake - The Brightest Bulb has Burned Out/Screws Fall Out
That's my lot for this week. HUZZAH! Adrian will be back on the blogs next week
Enjoy your long weekend, if you're in Ireland and for everyone else, enjoy the rest of your normal weekend! Comments are closed.
