We did it! We survived and completed a 48 hour Game Jam. It was a great experience all round, from the mini tournaments (which our very own Adrian won), free food and got to play some very innovative games with some very smart and nice creators. We had gone through about 3 ideas before finally starting work on the final idea with just 15 hours left to go. I must say it was a roller coaster. During the first day of the jam we experimented with something rather unique where we would use 4 camera's to view a different world for both players and a 3rd when the 2 characters come very close. We came so close to getting it to work but realised that we would of needed more than the allotted time given to complete and we wanted to have a game up for all of you to play. So after saving that idea for future use we started again found a mix between our finished game and current but came across OnTriggerEnter problems due to a code where we scale the players dynamically. So then finally we arrived on our current idea where each player has a reality to play in and share with the other player. The catch is the control to who is playing needs to be handled by the players and this is where I personally think we made a great little co-op game. We also experimented with the idea of fading realities which each player see's so in some cases the white cube would have to explore the world and find platforms for the black cube to use to trigger an event such as a switch. The link of our Global Game Jam entry will be live on site Asap so hold on and we hope you enjoy our efforts. We leave filled with great ideas for future games and some new contacts. We will be doing a more polished version and iron out the bugs for the site. We would also like to extend our thanks to Glenn Byrne(with a name like that he should join us ;) ) for coming in and helping us with some of the visuals. He is amazingly talented and we wish him all the best and hope to work with him again in the future. If any one would like any visual/illustrations done feel free to mail him. https://www.facebook.com/glenn.byrne Comments are closed.
